had my first applic. math lesson today ... and met the new teacher : mr yeang. mr loon yeang that is. he seems like a strict yet strangely-funny man. at the beginning of the lesson, he introduced himself and wrote his name on the board in english and chinese. don't exactly know where he's from, but joanne was quite happy cos for once someone pronounced 'tan' properly (not like how the ang mohs pronounce it.). he also talked for 20 mins straight - telling us about what he expects of us (to focus on the given task and work hard), and he also told us about this documentary he watched about a chinese village.

these kids have to trek a long long way to get to school, and they even have to cross this icy river by using a flying fox (without safety harnesses). then when they get school they would have to make their own 'chalkboards' with mud (or something like that) and then use sticks to write. so what was the point of this story you ask ? well, he just wanted us to know how lucky we are to be able to go to school in australia.
but i think he's a good teacher though.

speaking of teachers ... my human bio teacher this year CANNOT teach ! first she insults our intelligence by reading right off a worksheet (that she probably prepared herself, but still.) and she doesn't even explain anything. she says that we should be 'independant learners', so she is just merely a guide ... one who will make sure that we finish the course, and will answer any questions we have in regards to the work we're doing. but so far she hasn't actually answered the questions we asked very well. so because she is just a guide, we will have to read the text on our own and then make our own notes from there. well i figure she doesn't want to talk too much because she knows how annoying her voice gets after a while ... but i mean come on, they might as well just leave us in the classroom without her and study the entire syllabus on our own ! ahhh ... i wish mrs tay would come back. why couldn't she have delayed finishing her masters until after we left or something ... can't believe we got this silly woman (mrs huck) as our teacher. esp since it's supposed to be an important year for us.

mr flexman, our econs teacher, has this new way of teaching us ... we no longer have to take notes cos he'll give us notes after he's done talking . but actually, i would rather take notes. cos that way, i know that i'll pay attention and i won't fall asleep or something. it's just that the other girls in class don't like taking down so many notes (it's actually not THAT much writing!). if this continues, i'm going have a certain grace poking me throughout the lesson just to make sure that i don't fall asleep !

anyhoooooo, there's this odd-looking pink-ish cricket near the kitchen sink ... and none of us like crickets, so it's such a pain. hmm. o yes, we're also doing bowling for pe now ... i don't like bowling either . and i think there's a reason for that : i totally suck at bowling. i mean really, i'm terrible.

well then, i think i should go do some english hw ... ta ta !
