it is definitely NOT amusing when one is unable to access lecture slides & recordings (oh sorry, Lectopias) from WebCT.
you see, apparently the software on THIS computer is not compatible with this new version of WebCT. just wrote this angry email to complain about this because how the hell am i going to be ready for tomorrow's tute?!!
just when i was all ready and prepared to do some work too! how very convenient ...

BAHHH!!!!!!!

since i cannot access today's lecture slides, i will talk about the tasty dinner i had at Sizzler with eric (wong), chermaine, audrey, julie, tony & tash. we ate and ate and ate and ate, then sat around talking for a long time because none of us could move. ended up being the last customers to leave!
i don't believe i have eaten this much in a while ... but the good news is, i managed to keep all the food down. no reflux problem today :D

ok, fecking webCT is still not working and i'm getting upset.
ohwell, i will just have to pretend that i know what's going on in the tute tomorrow ... hopefully i will have things to contribute - slightly scared of this particular tutor.

my eyes are getting tired, goodbye!

the weather forecast for tmr: showers increasing.
doesn't it ever stop raining ??!!

|

Saturday, July 29, 2006

i always hate getting lunch on saturdays before work ...
mostly cos there's not much to eat at home if you want to make a sandwich or something.

found some bite-sized cracked pepper ham in the fridge, only to open it up and get a whiff of this horrible smell - expired on 23 June 2006. great. there goes my ham & cheese sandwich idea.
oh and the cheese never went to waste, cos i just gave it to lynne (who ate it without much hesitation).

ended up finding some otah in the freezer that can be put on bread (after being heated up), hurrah!
AND THERE WERE CARROTS & DIP!

so maybe today's lunch was not so awful.
to make this day even better, those customers shopping at Woolies today better be on their best behaviour!

gosh.
who would've known watching Gilmore Girls dvds would make me so upset ... i blame my period for this. ok, too much info, sorry.
but yes, i've come to a huge realization involving indos and Dean (yeap, that wimpy boy aka Rory's ex bf). ha ha ha!

currently in a very strange mood and with nobody to talk to.
this officially sucks.

to celebrate my tax return, i will get a haircut :)
not shorter (i prefer my long hair) but probably a new hairstyle. hopefully, anyway.

tmr is friday, woo!

|

grr, it's been raining the past few days ... continuously!
i guess the farmers are happy, but i think us city folk aren't. i realise having to walk in gale force winds is VERY difficult.

i realise some things that bug me most about public toilets are:
- they're always wet (sometimes with footprints)
- the bag hooks tend to be really high and not short-person friendly
- when the person before puts the toilet seat, cos that would mean having to touch the dirty toilet seat to put it down. (but of course we all know that you use either toilet paper or your foot to do that)
- toilet paper falling on the ground, and then getting wet.

one last thing: hurrahhh for tax returns :D

ok, time to do crosswords!!

If you look closely, Dr. Gunther von Hagens looks like he has no eyebrows. But no, they're just very close to his eyes. Currently watching "Anatomy for Beginners" and it's a great show! He just cuts open human bodies like he's cooking up some meat or something. I dont think he's very normal, since he wears this blue suit and a black hat while doing so. But then again, i think anyone with a name like Gunther von Hagens would not be very normal. heh heh, gunther. I dont know why, but i think he'd be a very good cook.

The funniest bit about the show is that his assistant, only known as Martin, is pretty much Gunther's biatch cos he has to do whatever Gunther says (in terms of cutting which organ, part of body etc..). Martin also has this porno moustache and matching blue suit! HAHA. I wish I photo of it.

Now to someone who always gets me worked up: Anne Geddes.
What kind of woman puts babies in things like pumpkins and gift boxes and takes photos of them, because she thinks it's amusing and cute. The mere mention of that woman's name gets me all annoyed! Truth be told, I wouldn't like to be one of those babies.

OK!
i think i'm done now.
back to the show!

as expected, today was a pretty glum day and it didn't really feel like the first day of semester.
rained pretty much the entire day (it has finally stopped, though!) and there just had to be NO parking today at all. ended up parking at architecture and walking through the flooded pavement to main campus. having rain-soaked shoes and socks does not feel great, but at least julie was with me & we had umbrellas.

during my break, i managed to dry my shoes & socks a little using the heater in yas' car. felt much better after that ... and the 1pm lecture seemed to go by pretty quickly.

i think my decision to Applied Linguistics was a good idea, at least now i have a slightly better idea of what i can do after i graduate next year. it's an interesting unit and i think i'll learn lots from it. linguistics lecturers are usually strange and at least this guy (John Henderson) isn't too boring, so the unit seems bearable.

this might sound a bit weird, but i enjoy talking to foreign people. on saturday while working, this european-sounding couple wanted to know where the juicers were and i managed to figure out that that was what they were after, and i even directed them to the right aisle. seeing it all work out made me feel kind of happy, haha.

wanted to have my Udon fix, alas, the kitchen at the jap place we went to had closed.
BUT
quite glad to be home! my nice, dry home with some hot tea.

oh yes, i used my new bag today :D
i think it made my day a little better - those green apples.

|

Sunday, July 23, 2006

a lovely day spent at Freo with Grace :)
bought a bag with green apples on it !! it's delightful !! i will put up a photo of it soon.

apart from that, most of our money was spent on food, food and food. i.e. crepes, gelato & blueberry poptarts (for me!).

now i have breakfast taken care of for the coming week.
speaking of which, it's back to uni tomorrow :(
the weather looks pretty glum though.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

ohwell!
i shall use my new bag and all will be well again.

while my parents were away, i seemed to have developed this obsession for carrots and dip (cheese & chives, to be exact). all that carrot eating made my finger tips go orange for a while, but hey, at least my constipation problem went away! haha.

ok back to my crosswords, and i think i might go get a tea.

am in a slightly foul mood, but not sure what it was that triggered it.
GOODNIGHT.

|

can't believe it's the last day of holidays already! we go back to uni on monday :(
the past month went by so quickly, it's unfair.

went quadcycling with Yas today and i guess we looked pretty silly, which would've explained the weird stares we got from people walking or cycling past (on normal bicycles). $25 for an hr for 2 people is not tooo bad, but i think the novelty kind of wore off after a while. we still got exercise done though, haha.

at about 4ish, mum called to say that they were going to have dinner with their friends and so lynne and i had to take care of our own dinner ... ended up going to Hogsbreath since we budgeted so well in the past week :D

it's kind of unlike me to budget money well ... i'm sure a few of you who know me well enough will agree. but i just have to say that my bank account remains untouched now for almost a week!

unfortunately, this will not be for long cos some time this coming week, i plan to go to Carousel with Grace to perhaps purchase my cocktail dress :) spotted a nice affordable one some time back and i hope it's still there. i realise cocktail's only in september, but no harm being kiasu since there are nice dresses out now.

ho hum.
it's 9.30 on a friday night and i am home. it's quite quite cold outside so i suppose it's much better to be in than out.

think i will go change into some trackies, goodbye!

Tickets are on sale and they're so bloody expensive !!!! how upsetting !!!! B reserve tickets are $140. i really wish i had more money!!!!!

while we're on the topic of money, i got my group certificate from work so i should probably file my tax return soon. at least after that i will have more money.

-sigh
had a nice lunch with lynne today. noice noice, some sister bonding. such a mad girl, but lunch was good.

just had to complain about how expensive tickets are.
ARGHHH.

hot chocolate and mini marshmallows have always been some of my favourite friends. i'm not sure why i'm up before my alarm is meant to go off (11am), i lay in my bed for about 10 mins before deciding that i couldn't sleep anymore.

the parents have gone for a picnic with their friends from singapore and so lynne and i are going to have lunch with grace :) once again it is evident that sometimes are parents have a more active social life than say, lynne? hehe.

anyhoo, i am deeply frustrated as i think i am constipated. it's not a great feeling and it got me all agitated last night before we went out. bad news: i still am (constipated, that is). i'm hoping that the hot beverages i'm drinking will help move them stubborn bowels.

i really want to eat some veggies...

a weekend of dancing

just got back from a night out with Yas :)
our outing started at Dome sipping coffees and ended with us going to Ambar - it was a friend of a friend's birthday so we managed to get free entry. i have decided that i quite like the place, it's very underground and it reminds me of that movie Queen of the Damned ... it was more the atmosphere than the music (i.e. very smoky, dark, cool lights). the music was pretty good too :) they played non-r&b which is good for a change.

last night was mum & dad's 25th anniversary celebration!
twas a night of dancing for the older folks and it was cute watching all these couples dancing. hehe. yas hopes to be one of them when he grows older ... shaking his bootay and all. maybe by then he would've mastered the melbourne shuffle, heh heh.

many photos were taken during the course of the night, but i dont actually have them at the mo'.

the Loo household is slowly becoming less & less ... dear lynette has left for Melbourne and soon mum and dad will be going down south with their friends. tra la la la, which leaves just me and lynne. alone.

kind of looking forward to it actually ... especially since it's the last week of holidays! ohhh gosh, we will have to go back to uni soon :( boo, that is so soon. the holidays have just flown by.

anyhoooo, i think it's time for me to go to bed now.
it's 1.15 in the morning but it somehow feels so much earlier. am not feeling as tired as i should be, given i'm currently surviving on 6 hrs of sleep (not to mention having worked 9-6pm today).

SO YES.
my point being, it's time for bed!
goodnight sleepy heads, i will be back again tmr (maybe).

all these depressing shows on tv.
one called Suspicious Minds - a show about all these people who have died and the show reveals how and why they died. among them was a little baby boy who was only a few months old when he died, he was such a cute baby. another case featured this 15 yr old vietnamese boy who was shot by his stepfather (who incidentally, looks like such a creep).

the other's called Shock Docs - today's is about people who are eating themselves to death. one of the guys weighs about 317kg and hasn't been mobile for 10 years, so he just lies on his bed while his family cooks for him. it's quite disgusting having to watch these people struggle to talk ... who would have known something like food addiction could be possible. one of them was saying how "when they eat, everything goes away and it feels better". hearing that just makes me feel so sad and not to mention, disgusted.

what i dont understand is that why the families of these people just continue feeding them, even if they know that eating so much is detrimental to health. i mean, most of these people can't even breathe on their own for crying out loud! they have to breathe with the help of a tube feeding oxygen into their bodies.

arghhhhhhh.

|

i've finally washed my car!
it still doesn't have a name, but now it is clean ... ! i'm so happy. just need to vacuum the inside, but at least it's all shiny on the outside again.
also, thanks for helping me clean the top of my car grace :)

we are such health buffs - instead of going to body combat at 6pm, we sipped bubble tea in grace's room and gossiped.

i have been bored out of my brains for most of today, i can't wait till tmr when i will have things to do!

yay for things

Sunday, July 09, 2006

i'm not one to share dreams, but last night i dreamt that i had a bitch (or if you may, cat) fight with this girl i have never met. i have only seen her on friendster and she happens to be someone's girlfriend. she's not very attractive and i think the fight started cos i called her some names and taunting her about her ugliness.

it seemed pretty real because i can still imagine what her voice would sound like, she seems like the kind with the squeaky act-cute voice. arghhhh. but of course, i would not know as i dont actually know her. she just looks annoying.

yes, call me critical. i can't help it.
just bugs me that her boyfriend thinks she's the most beautiful creature in the world, when obviously she is not. believe me, i have seen much prettier ...

bahh ok.
the soccer is taking so long to come on ...
but at least Federer is winning :D
go Roger!

|

it's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring.
thank goodness i didn't wash my car ... i really should though. there's still bits of egg shell stuck on the inside of my side mirror - thanks to those fecking assholes who egged my car some time back *mutter mutter*

ANYWAYYYY
i cannot wait till we go to the city tmr cos i really want to buy a book of crosswords !!! it will be the highlight of my day.

the soccer is on tonight :D
france vs. italy ... not quite sure who i will go for yet.
Pirates is on!
oh johnny, you're so cute.

|

i have put the photos of our trip up :)
the link is on the side ... where all the other photos are. i think it's pretty obvious that it's the one that says road trip !!!

anyhoo, as mentioned in the previous post, i had a most enjoyable time on the trip and i'm so glad we went. twas fun sharing a room with my sisters - they are the craziest bunch.

i dont really know what else to say, so if you would like more talk about the trip then go to lynette's blog (her link is on the side too) and perhaps you will be more well informed.

met up with grace just now and it was good catching up. tis lovely to have a great girl friend to talk to :) thank you 'best friend forever' ... heeehee.

hmm.
i think i've become slightly obsessed with crossword puzzles, i dont know why but i enjoy sitting there completing them (or trying to at least). i know it's such an old woman thing to do, but while some people have latin line dancing, i have crossword puzzles ...

ok! well go look at the photos.
i realise they aren't all in order ... but they have been numbered so go figure it out from there. sorry if the captions aren't too great, i'm feeling lazy.

we are back a day early !!!
i was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it is up north :)
had a wonderful time, especially since the Loo family is full of fun.

there will be photos and other stuff coming soon ...
for now, i'm going to get ready as i am meeting up with grace - gotta go pick her up. i feel like driving, haven't driven in a while.

big black shiny car?
not quite

Sunday, July 02, 2006

from tmr,
my family and i will be going to Monkey Mia for a holiday :)
we will be back on sunday morning as it is a long drive (9 or 10 hrs apparently). breaking up the journey so that it won't be so tiring for dear daddy who has to drive. what makes me happy is that where we are going, the maximum temperature will be about 26 or 27 degrees & it will be sunny - perfect for frolicking on the beach and baking in the sun. and also good weather for wearing shorts, wooot.

heeheehee.
i love the holidays!

camp photos!
well, some of them anyway. there are just too many ... you may view more in the link on the side that says asia camp 2006 :)

work at 3pm
-sigh
it's probably going to be the longest 3 hrs ever, since i hate this shift the most! my hope is that there will be less irritating customers around.

gonna go find something to eat. BAHH.
