Dinner on christmas eve turned out to be the tastiest meal i've had during my stay here in Hangzhou. We ended up going to this brazilian bbq place called Kama Bbq, it was so cheap! 48 yuan for all-you-can-eat, which is roughly AUD$8. Plus 10yuan for a papaya milk drink which was also pretty tasty (i think you would like the taste of this one, nette).
I realise Chinese people have a thing for warm drinks ... i understand that it is winter and all, but sometimes you just want an ice cold drink! The other day we were at this little cafe on the uni campus and i asked if i could have my milk tea cold. Not only did i get a strange look from the guy at the counter, he also said to his colleague, "who drinks cold milk tea?!" WELL I DO!!!! goshh. Incidentally, this is also the place that has the most hilarious food & drink menu. I managed to get a photo of the food one, but not the drink one. They don't put that menu outside but i think that might be because they want to prevent foreign english-speaking students from laughing at their restaurant. Let me give you an example:
Green bean cow human milk.
(When i read that, i imagined a lady sitting in the kitchen squeezing milk from her teat into a jug. *tweak* *tweak*)
On the whole, everything's been pretty good :)
Some of us are planning to go Shanghai for the new year (i.e. dec 31st - 2nd jan), woo! I'm pretty excited about our little new year break before our exams on thursday. I must say it doesn't feel like we've been here for 2 weeks, kind of wish we could stay in Hangzhou a little longer because apparently people in Beijing aren't as friendly. Also, the weather's going to be much colder so i'm not really looking forward to that.
Anyhoo,
can't really be stuffed typing anymore so i'm gonna end it here. The other day i had the biggest craving for Nando's, grr, i could really go for a fiesta right about now. It's funny how you don't realise how much you miss a variety of food ... can't wait to eat food in Singapore!!
Ok, zai jian!
